Information about audio transfer
The Audio Clinic digital transfer service can convert any obsolete or vintage audio media such as mono vinyl, 78 shellac records or any format of audio or digital tape into any of the current popular digital formats (AIFF, WAV, FLAC, MP3 320, CD).
We only use high quality audiophile equipment and transfer at professional digital studio rates of 44.1Khz 24bit (higher bit rates can be used at no extra cost if required) in our purpose build recording studio.
When transferring audio we use the state of the art Izotope RX suite of audio repair products (Denoiser, Declicker, Declipper, Hum Remover, Spectral Repair and Ozone for Mastering). You can find out more about these tools on the Izotope website.
Reel to Reel:
When converting reel to reel tape we choose to use industry standard Studer Revox reel recorders although if the material was recorded at lower speeds below 1⅞ inches per second we would have to use an alternative domestic playback machine.
Vinyl and Shellac records:
We only use high quality audiophile turntables (Revolver, Goldring & LIMIT DJ) with the correct balanced Shure mono, stereo or 78 cartridge.
Cassettes:
We have a selection of mono, stereo and 4 track cassette playback machines from Yamaha, Sony, Aiwa & Fostex that allow us to deal with any domestic noise reduction system ( Dolby B, Dolby C & DBX)
Minidisc & DAT
Wherever possible we will use digital to digital optical cabling between recorders.
